URBAN TO RURAL
In the first semester of second year, my class was challenged to design a collection of functional workwear-inspired garments with a modern, minimalist look, in collaboration with Scottish waxed-cotton manufacturer Halley Stevensons, and the Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland.
We were to design with the circular economy in mind, with key elements including a detailed collar and/or hood, pockets, and hard-wearing fastenings. I chose to draw inspiration from 1940s women’s flight suits and welding gear, as well as fishermen’s smocks and farmers’ overalls.
